Radio-based solar-powered sensor module USCSM warns against excessive carbon monoxide concentration in the air

The heart of, Unitronic solar CO sensor module ‘(USCSM) form an innovative, Figaro developed electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor in the form of a standard AA battery, which both the DIN EN 50 291 (Electrical apparatus for the detection of carbon monoxide in homes) and VDI2053 the policy for the ventilation systems for garage meets, and a programmable bidirectional 315 – or 868-MHz radio module from EnOcean STM300.

The actual sensor element needs no external power supply, its energy is supplied by using an electrochemical process. Thanks to the extremely low consumption EnOcean wireless module and the integrated module USCSM on the solar cell, the carbon monoxide detector can thus be close to a world-wide in all locations with at least temporary adequate lighting conditions completely independently of additional energy sources.

The range of the USCSM ranges from 20 to 1000 ppm (ppm = parts per million). In normal ambient air every 20 seconds, a measurement is made, and the radio module sends a presence message every hour with the current values of carbon monoxide and the supply voltage. These measurement and transmission cycles, a battery life of up to 60 hours in darkness is achieved. If the increase in the rise of CO concentration in the ambient air, the number of measurement and transmission cycles of automatic mode, the current value of the supply voltage, a continuous analysis of the expected remaining service life. Early visual or audible warning in this case, ensure maximum safety.

The USCSM module measures in the standard version only 55 x 24 x 22 mm 3, customizations are available upon request.
